STAFF

Madi - President

Hey guys! I’m Madi, president of B-KNWN. Dance has been my world for as long as I can remember! I grew up in Chicago, Illinois, where I spent most of my childhood as a competitive dancer, training in all styles and falling in love with everything about it. But if you catch me in my element, you’ll see that hip-hop is where I feel most like myself!

My journey started in the classroom—teaching elementary school was my first job—but it didn’t take long for me to realize that dance was my true calling. For the past four years, I’ve been coaching dancers, and nothing makes me happier than working side by side with them to clean routines, perfect technique, and get them ready to hit the stage with confidence. I’m passionate about everything I do, but dance? That’s where my heart truly is.

Starting B-KNWN is about more than just dance—it’s about creating a fun, high-energy space where dancers can grow, push their limits, and build lifelong memories. Whether you’re here to compete, train, or just express yourself, I want every dancer to leave feeling stronger, more confident, and part of something special.

Let’s create, train, and B-KNWN. B-Elite.

Shay- Vice President

Hey, everyone! I'm Shay, vice president of B-KNWN. Gymnastics and dance have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started gymnastics when I was just three years old and never looked back! That passion took me all the way to the University of Kentucky, where I competed on the UK Gymnastics Team and earned All-SEC accolades—an experience that taught me discipline, resilience, and how to perform under pressure (all things I love passing on to my dancers!).

After college, I knew I wanted to keep working with kids, so I became an elementary school teacher, a role I’ve loved for the past six years. But no matter how much time I spent in the classroom, I always found myself drawn back to the dance and gymnastics world. Over the past nine years, I’ve had the privilege of training and mentoring young dancers, helping them build confidence, master technique, and most importantly—fall in love with movement.

Starting B-KNWN is truly a dream come true. We wanted to create a space where dancers of all levels feel empowered, challenged, and supported—not just as performers, but as people. My goal is to help every dancer walk away stronger, more confident, and ready to take on anything that comes their way.

I can't wait to dance with you all—let’s B-KNWN. B-Elite.

Keturah-Ballet Instructor

Keturah Cook spent her early years in Seattle, WA where she began her ballet training at the Evergreen City Ballet under the artistic direction of Wade Walthall. She then completed her last eight years of training at the Kentucky Ballet Theatre Academy, in Lexington, KY, under the direction of Rafaela Risco, where she enjoyed performing numerous children and corps de ballet roles with the Professional Company. During her training she attended multiple prestigious summer programs including, but not limited to Pacific Northwest Ballet, Evergreen City Ballet, Next Generation Ballet at Patel Conservatory, and Kentucky Ballet Theatre.

Keturah is also a graduate of the Kentucky Governor’s School of the Arts. Upon graduating early in 2016, she joined Kentucky Ballet Theatre’s professional Company, under the direction of Norbe Risco. During her time at Kentucky Ballet Theatre she enjoyed dancing corps de ballet, demi-soloist & soloist roles in many classical & original ballets including The Nutcracker, Carmen, Dracula, La Esmeralda, La Bayadere, Peter Pan, The Night Before Christmas, Carnival of Venice, Wizard of Oz, Le Corsaire and Giselle, just to name a few, along with being hand selected for many neoclassical and contemporary works with prestigious guest choreographers. In 2022, Keturah continued her dance career in Chicago, IL with Ardent Dance Company under the direction of Justine Kelly. Upon the completion of her first season she was promoted to principal dancer. She has enjoyed performing a variety of ensemble, soloist and principal roles in Pandora’s Box, Les Miserables & POE: A Contemporary Ballet based on Edger Allen Poe’s Life and Works. Keturah is trained in the Cuban Ballet Method and has had the honor to train under world renowned Cuban Jewel, Aurora Bosch.

Keturah has choreographed for many years now and has prepared several students for the Youth American Grand Prix, Dance Open America, as well as several regional competitions, where her choreography has received awards. In 2020 she was chosen to choreograph on the Kentucky Ballet Theatre’s professional company, and in 2021 Keturah choreographed a brand new full length production of the Nutcracker for Konquer Dance Company, where she was the Ballet Mistress. Currently, while performing with Ardent Dance Company, Keturah is excited to be pursuing a degree at Asbury University and once again work with the next generation of dancers in Central Kentucky.

Hannah has been dancing through life from an early age, and she’s never missed a beat. She holds a B.A. in Theatre with a Minor in Dance from Morehead State University, and she sharpened her artistry at the American Dance Festival, diving deep into Dance and Arts Administration. Today, she brings her passion to the students of Fayette County Public Schools, teaching at Lexington Traditional Magnet School and William Wells Brown Elementary. A certified member of Dance Masters of America and a Leap and Learn specialist, Hannah’s classroom is where discipline meets pure joy.

Her journey has led her through many roles: Assistant Director at Kelley Puckett Dance Academy, Ballet Instructor for the African American Ballet Troupe, full-time dance teacher and competitive coach at MJM Studios Inc., choreographer and guest artist for Unified Motion Dance Academy, and teaching artist at Lexington Arts and Science Center. She has shaped young dancers at Summit Elementary, Ashland Regional Dancs Theatre, and Ashland Youth Ballet Dance Company, and she’s even brought musicals to life with Stage Right Theatre Company. Beyond the stage and studio, Hannah is a passionate advocate for community service and academic excellence. Whether judging competitions, choreographing professional works, or cheering on the next generation, she lives by her motto: "Never miss a chance to dance.

Kate- Dance Instructor

Hey everyone! I was born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine. My sports career began in rhythmic gymnastics. After 9 years of intense training and competitions I transitioned my focus into dance. For the next 7 years I was a member and the captain of the National Dance Team of Ukraine. I became the most decorated dancer in Ukraine: Three-time International Cheer Union World Champion in Pom and Jazz , Three-time ICU European Champion and Multi National Champion. I travelled the world with the national team competing and representing Ukraine in many international competitions and received the highest athlete award The Honored Master of Sport of Ukraine. During that time I also completed my education at The

National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine with a Master's Degree in Sports Biomechanics.

Since then I began teaching competitive and recreational students of all ages and levels as well as giving master classes to coaches and athletes. In addition to teaching I became a certified ICU judge and have judged various national and international competitions in US, Latin America, Europe and Asia as well as ICU World Championships and ICU European Championships. Since becoming a mom to my two precious daughters, teaching dance has become even more meaningful to me and I feel a huge responsibility to give them all the knowledge and opportunities that I can. That’s why I am so excited to join the B-KNWN family, to share my knowledge, help each dancer elevate their technique, skills and to be a part of their everyday progress that can bring them closer to their dreams and goals in dance.

Alyssa- Dance Instructor

Hey everyone! My name is Alyssa and I’m from South Carolina. I attend the University of Kentucky as a Dance & Business major. I started dance when I was 3, started competing in 5th grade and it has been my life ever since.

I’ve trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, hip-hop, contemporary, lyrical, tumble/acro, and have even done some ballroom! Throughout the years I’ve done more conventions, and competitions than I can count. I attended Discovery Spotlight where I was able to work with agents on singing, dancing, and modeling. I have also taken CLI classes, and BDC classes while in New York. All of these things have helped me to further my training, and I’ve learned so much from these experiences.

In high school I started teaching at my studio, and helping teach tumble/acro at a nearby gym. This is when I realized how much I truly love teaching dance. While jazz, and tap are my favorite styles, I really enjoy helping dancers with technique, and choreographing in lots of different styles. I’ve choreographed for dancers in the past, and have created multiple award winning solos, and duets.

I’m super excited for this opportunity, and can’t wait to dance with you all! My goal is for each dancer to be pushed to their full potential, while creating a positive environment where everyone can feel comfortable and have fun!
